Our story is rooted in the passion and expertise of our founder, Jason Martino, whose journey in landscape design has been marked by excellence, creativity, and a commitment to designing spaces that have a strong connection to the people who call these landscapes home.

As a designer, Jason deeply appreciates the privilege of being welcomed into his clients' homes, recognising the significant trust placed in him to craft spaces that hold profound personal value. Our approach is client first, valuing genuine listening, sharing of ideas, and prioritising collaboration throughout the design process.

Jason's landscape story began at the industry leading Ryde College, where he distinguished himself by being awarded as Dux of his cohort. This early recognition led to his first professional role at a design practice on the outskirts of Sydney, where he quickly became the face of their residential design sector. During these formative years, Jason immersed himself in all stages of the design process, laying a strong foundation for his career.

In 2016, Jason embarked on a European gap year that was both a personal and professional exploration. During his time abroad, he visited numerous gardens and parklands, admired diverse architectural styles, and refined his skills in landscape photography. The pinnacle of his trip was attending the Chelsea Flower Show in London, which only deepened his passion for garden design.

Upon returning to Australia, Jason joined a leading landscape design and construction company in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. This role provided him with invaluable experience in construction and project management, allowing him to gain new insights with each project.

Jason had the privilege of working on many prestigious properties and contributed to several award-winning gardens. During his five year tenure, he rose to the position of Design Manager. 

With nearly a decade of professional experience, Jason decided it was time to pursue his own vision. He founded Etch Landscape Design to offer clients a bespoke, personal approach to landscape design.
